Amber Grundy hired as new Executive Director

The Camp Fire USA River Bend Council Board and Staff welcome Amber M. Grundy, Ph.D. as our new Executive Director in charge of all Council operations. Amber has a long history with Camp Fire and Camp Tannadoonah, starting as a camper at Camp Tannadoonah in 1985. She attended Camp Tannadoonah for 11 summers, and then worked there as a dishwasher, cabin counselor, swimming and boating instructor, and waterfront director from 1996 through 2001. She also served one term as a member of the board of directors for Camp Fire in 2005/2006. Amber has been the Camp Tannadoonah director since 2006, and will continue in a dual role as the director at Camp Tannadoonah in addition to her new role as Council Executive Director.
Amber earned her doctorate in Developmental Psychology in 2007 from the University of Notre Dame. Her research interests focused on middle childhood and early adolescence. She worked on a number of different studies of children and families, including The Great Transitions Study from 2001-2007 (a study of parenting during the transition to adolescence), the Notre Dame ADHD Study from 2006-2007 (a study of ADHD interventions for elementary and middle school students), and Reading for Life from 2007-2011 (an intervention program for first-time juvenile offenders in the St. Joseph County, IN juvenile justice system).
