What are these Themes?
You’ll see that each week has a different theme. We use the themes to come up with ideas for decorations, meals, and evening programs during the week. For example, during Harry Potter Week, we decorated the Dining Hall with the different Hall Banners from Harry Potter, and during All Ball Week we had all sorts of balls and other sporting equipment hanging up.
During Gameshow Week, our evening programs consisted of Tannadoonah Feud on Sunday night, Tannadoonah’s Got Talent on Tuesday night, a Gameshow Carnival on Wednesday (with booths for different gameshows), and The Amazing Race on Thursday evening. For Harry Potter Week, we had a Triwizard Tournament consisting of Nocturne Alley (AKA One Way Street), Capture the Dementors (AKA Capture the Flag), and House Wars (AKA Ball Wars and Tug of War). For Survivor Week, we divided campers into tribes, and each night played a different game with opportunities to earn points for your tribe. For Holidaze Week, we played Capture Cupid, had an Easter Egg Hunt, and a 4th of July Carnival / Fair.
It is important to note that the themes for the week do not affect the activities that are offered to campers during the day. We still offer all of our normal daily activities (e.g., archery, nature, sports and games, drama, crafts, photography, bejeweled, etc.) no matter what the theme is for that week. In addition, there are no weeks that are geared towards younger or older campers. All of our weeks are open to campers ages 6-16, and we try to plan programs that appeal to that entire range of ages. You can choose a week based on the dates that work best for you or the theme your child likes best, but the theme does not have a huge impact on the schedule or the way the week is set up.
